Guidelines

The official rules and values for Hacktoberfest 2025. Follow these to ensure a great experience for everyone.

Four Quality Contributions

To complete the challenge, you must make four quality pull requests (PRs) to any participating public repository on GitHub. Quality is key; contributions that are automated, disruptive, or hinder the project will be marked as invalid.

October 1-31

All pull requests must be submitted between October 1st and October 31st in any time zone. PRs made before or after this window will not count towards your Hacktoberfest goal.

Participating Repositories

Your contributions must be made to repositories with the `hacktoberfest` topic. Maintainers can opt-in to participate. PRs to repositories not participating in Hacktoberfest will not be counted.

Be Respectful

Follow the project's code of conduct and contribution guidelines. Be respectful and constructive in your interactions with maintainers and other contributors. Community is at the heart of open source.

Remember to update the Contributor list

Be sure to update the contributors.json in the root directory of this website's repository after contributing to any of the mentioned repositories.
